Rassistische Polizei- und Staatsgewalt gegen Schwarze Menschen ist bei weitem kein auf die USA beschränktes Phänomen.
Vielmehr ist sie weltweit systemisch und nimmt viele Formen an.
Auf zahllose Arten sind Polizei und andere staatliche Akteur*innen an der Ermordung Schwarzer Menschen beteiligt und dafür verantwortlich - auf den Straßen der US-Städte, in den Straßen Brasiliens, in den Geflüchteten-Camps in Griechenland, in den Lagern in Libyen, auf dem Mittelmeer und natürlich auch in allen Städten Europas, wo Schwarze Menschen - ob Migrant*innen oder nicht - kriminalisiert, brutalisiert, terrorisiert und... ungestraft durch die Polizei getötet werden.
Wir prangern die Morde an allen BIPoC und insbesondere an Schwarzen Menschen durch die Polizei/den Staat überall an.
Und wir teilen Informationen über das, was geschieht, um Bewusstsein und Sichtbarkeit zu schaffen.
Heute wollen wir Raum schaffen, um über die Ermordung des 19-jährigen Schwarzen brasilianischen Teenagers Marcelo Daniel Ferreira Santos in Nordeste de Amaralina, Salvador, Brasilien am 29. Dezember 2022 durch die dortige Polizei zu berichten, und wir sprechen seiner Familie und seinen Freunden unser Beileid aus.

Der staatlich sanktionierte Völkermord an Schwarzen Menschen, insbesondere an Schwarzen Jugendlichen wie Marcelo durch die Polizei, findet in ganz Brasilien in extrem hoher Zahl statt, selbst in einem Bundesstaat wie Bahia, in dem Lulas Partei PT die Regierungspartei ist.
Letztes Jahr tötete die Polizei allein im Bundesstaat Bahia laut einem Bericht von @redeobservatorios alle 24 Stunden mindestens eine Schwarze Person, in Rio de Janeiro sind es doppelt so viele, und man darf nicht vergessen, dass dies nur die gemeldeten Tötungen durch die Polizei sind, die tatsächliche Zahl ist viel höher.
Eine Sache, in der sich sowohl vermeintlich linke als auch rechte politische Parteien in den meisten Ländern der Welt oft einig sind, ist ihre Unterstützung für die todbringende Institution der Polizei. Marcelos Familie (@matheusguiglierme) und die Gemeinschaft von Nordeste de Amaralina kämpfen weiter für Gerechtigkeit, indem sie unter anderem auf die Straße gehen. Und wir müssen uns mit ihnen und allen Schwarzen Gemeinschaften, Aktivist*innen und Organisator*innen solidarisieren, die sich gegen den staatlich sanktionierten Völkermord an Schwarzen Menschen durch die Polizei in Brasilien wehren.

Racist police & state violence against Black people is far from being a USA-only phenomenon.
Rather, it is systemic globally and takes on many forms.
In countless ways police and other state actors participate and are responsible for the murder of Black people - on the streets of US-cities, in the streets of Brazil, in the detention centers in Greece and Libya, on the Mediterranean sea and across the cities of Europe where Black people - migrants or not- are being criminalised, brutalized, terrorised and killed with impunity. We call out the killings of all BIPoC and of Black people in particular at the hands of the state and it's institutions everywhere.
And we share information about what is happening to create awareness and visibility.
Today we want to create space to report the murder of Black Brasilian teenager Marcelo Daniel Ferreira Santos in Nordeste de Amaralina, Salvador, Brazil by the police on the 29th of December 2022 at age 19 and we extend our condolences to his family and friends.
Our supporter Axmed Maxamed who is in Salvador, Brazil with the family and sibling of Marcelo is sharing with us a short political analysis and some relevant information.
The state sanctioned genocide of Black people, especially Black youth such as Marcelo at the hands of the police, happens at an extremely high rate all over Brazil, even in a state such as Bahia where Lula’s party PT is the governing party.
Last year, in the state of Bahia alone, the police killed at least 1 Black person every 24 hours, according to a report by @redeobservatorios, in Rio de Janeiro it is double and keep in mind these are only reported police killings, the actual number is much higher.
One thing that both supposed left-wing and right-wing political parties in most countries around the world often agree on, is their support for the death making institution that is policing. Marcelo’s family (@matheusguiglierme) and community of Nordeste de Amaralina is continuing to fight for justice by going on the streets, among other things.
And we need to be in solidarity with them and all Black communities, activists and organisers that are resisting state sanctioned genocide of Black people by the police in Brazil. As Black activists in Brazil say: “If you want to know who is Black or white in Brazil, just ask the police.”
